- Experimental study and modelling

Hydrology of the Tres Arroyos in Malalcahuello, Chile

The combination of experimental studies with physically based modelling is likely to greatly increase our hydrological understanding and allows for the testing of process hypotheses.

The study described here focuses on a catchment in Southern Chile where little process research has been done so far. Of special interest in this catchment are
a) the extremely young volcanic ash soils with corresponding very high porosities and hydraulic conductivities and
b) the fact that this catchment is largely undisturbed, there is no antropogenic intervention.

This webpage summarises ongoing work of the PhD project of Theresa Blume (advised by Axel Bronstert and Erwin Zehe ).
